These were taken with the Nikon D500, paired with the Nikon 200-500mm f5.6.

Good setup for wildlife photos (with pretty good light), and some really interesting closeups like these. I find it interesting to use telephoto, and super telephoto lenses for closeups. Gives a different perspective sometimes.

If we didn't live on a lake with ospreys, eagles, otters, swans, heron, and the like I'm not sure I would own the 200-500 lens, I'd just rent it for vacations. It really is too much reach for most occasions. But when you need it, it sure is nice to have.

It sure did.

Some areas are worse than others. Just north and across the street is Sulphur Caldron, and that is defiantly well named.

10. The next county over the wells have sulfur. The only way you can drink it is cold.

The sulfur settles to the bottom of the bottle after a bit.
When you turn a faucet on you might get a stream of black water at first.
And everything smells like rotten eggs.
