Hi,
This is where comments about the photos being submitted get posted. Not in the Photo thread.
Thanks!

(149,534 posts)I couldn't sleep, so I thought I might as well get up and get my entry up. I was out in my yard with my iPhone, photographing the last flowering Agapanthus, when it dawned on me that I should try a different angle of view.
This photo was the result.

(14,559 posts)Forecast here is 105f today and 108f tomorrow. No rain in the last 2 weeks and none forecast for the next 10 days. All while I'm trying to recover a badly neglected lawn
We have had knocking 100 all week, but i am in the UK. AC is not a thing in a 1930's apartment block in the middle of the city - so it feels at least 5 more. We had 10 minutes of rain dancing off the ground earlier and I got really excited that the weather would break. No such luck. Now I am going to go and look at your submission

(31,374 posts)It doesn't look like there is a link for posting to message boards, which means you'd have to download the image and then upload it to a web hosting site like imgur or postimages.org in order to get a direct link for posting here.
flamin lib
(14,559 posts)but in most hosting sites a right click will give options. NIkon image space doesn't give the options so I guess you'll have to use a different hosting site.
I use Imgur.com. It's free and pretty user friendly. Once the image is uploaded a click on the image opens it with a list of options on the right and an 'edit image' option when you mouse over it. Click the edit image and you can re-size it to 1024 on the long side for the contest. Resize, save and re-open to the the menu on the right. Click on Direct Link. Then on DU open a post and do ctrl v to paste the link in your post.
To share an image from a third party website, say andyshanks.smugmug.com, click on the image you want to see it full size, then right click on the image and click Copy Image Address then ctrl v in your post.
Just be careful of copy right. I believe you can share images for educational purposes but not for other uses like publication or sale.
Someone please elaborate on copy right fair use.

(149,534 posts)Before you hit "post," check how your photo looks by hitting "preview." This can be enormously helpful.

(149,534 posts)I use SmugMug for posting my photos here. I could help you if you had an account with them.
I could even help you over the phone, if you're willing!
Let me know. I'm here.

Spied a Leaf Hopper. All I had on my was my 17mm, so I just cropped the living daylights out of the image.

(36,270 posts)I miss them. Haven't seen one in years. I used to collect them regularly back east, but don't ever see them on the west coast. Where did you photograph it?
