A few more photos of that columbine flower
Hello,
Here are a few more photos of the columbine flower I entered in the contest. Been years since I posted here so these are from summer 2018. Unfortunately soon after I took these we had a 114 degree day here and that did the poor plant in. Since I later found out this is an alpine plant I doubt I will replace it, but there are always the pictures to look at ![]() ![]() ![]()

1. I've had columbines for years!
Never had that color though. Bright yellow ones right now. Im in Texas, so I know how susceptible they are to a hot sun. About 5 hrs of morning sun for these and they do great!

4. I had this one in a morning sun area also
Facing east on my front porch. Listed it that day but it was too hot, kind of a freak event it being so hot just that one day! These were even bluer in reality, the lighting or angle must have given it the purplish tinge. Now I've never seen the yellow ones! Now I'm tempted to give them another try, I know how hot it can get in Texas!

7. You are welcome
All it took was a little encouragement I guess! I'll be glad to post more photos, why not when you're home all the time!
Unfortunately my camera lens has a scratch tonight in the middle of it so I guess I'll have to replace it whenever a semblance of the old days comes back and I can go buy one. |

11. Thank you Mira
Flowers are a good subject, they don't move around too much!

9. Love the intensity, what eye-poppers!
Did you run the pics through a photo program to kick up the color? Sorry to hear they died. The wild ones up here in northern WI aren't as showy but they do just fine in the heat - even when it hit the low 100s a few times in years past.

10. Pop Art color
Hi! It's a setting on the old camera I had that intensified the colors. To my perception it just looks closer to reality sometimes... If a photo is too saturated I could tone it down in Photoshop, I have an archaic version on my old steam powered pc...
![]() I have these pink primroses blooming now and my current camera doesn't have this setting, and all the photos of them come out bleached out and white...but then it's just a cheap point and shoot. I actually think my phone takes better pictures... |

12. Well it certainly did 'Pop Art' the color - wow, it jumps off the page!
Since I'm frugal (read:cheap, lol) I just dug up our native Columbines and planted them in my garden. Can't go wrong with something already pre-approved by Mother Nature.
![]() About the pink primroses - post a few, ok? Use the point and shoot, and your phone. It'd be fun to see the actual difference. The little digital camera I have has more settings on it than Heinz has pickles, for heaven's sake. I can't remember all that stuff, so I set it on 'Auto' and just do little tweaks in my photo program. Years and years ago an online friend sent me an old disc with the photo program he preferred, called Picture Window Pro. I only know how to use probably 10% of it (if even) but it does a pretty good job at making pics look more natural - like things looked to my eye when I took the picture. |

I had columbine in the yard when we lived in Lincoln, NE, but never the color of yours.
It's just stunning. |
