14 hours to go until voting ends on the initial round of photography marvel!

So can I have a really big last push on kicking here:

You have all been amazing keeping it front and central. Thank you so much and now for that final push, please kick to your hearts content on a locked down Friday evening!

I will be posting the finals tomorrow and I will obvs nag you relentlessly to keep that kicked too. The standard has been utterly breathtaking this time round. You know that feeling when you want to compete and you do, but you know you have no chance of making the final, because everyone else was that good. This is one of those competitions for me. You are wonderful, talented and just good eggs. Hurrah. Now please do me a favour and give this round one final kick because I truly believe the pictures you all put up are just plain great for our souls right now.

I'm curious where did you take your portal picture? I love looking at pictures of ruins (seems weird to put it that way but you know what I mean!)

Jervaulx Abbey in North Yorkshire. Visiting sacked Abbeys to take pictures is a hobby of mine. They are wondrous ruins from another age. And I know exactly what you mean. I have visited so many ruins, I can spend hours wondering around taking pictures. The most impressive sacked abbey I have visited is this one:

A place called Rievaulx Abbey, the whole surrounding village was built out of the stone of the abbey and the local pub was from the 13th Century!!!

Thanks for booting them!!! Much appreciated.

How neat - my late sister and her husband ( who I now live with here) spent their honeymoon in York then went back the following year. They didn't take photos but told me of an old abbey they visited. This must be the place unless there's more than one in Yorkshire. Anyways again I like it!
Now I have the urge to post some pics I've taken! It has to wait until I'm at my computer though...don't know how to post pix from my phone!

I have to figure out this imgur account how or whether I can keep track of photos... I have a lot on my computer but it's one of those old steam powered ones and takes awhile to fire up.
In the meantime I did attempt a blog awhile back but gave up, it was really difficult and frustrating to upload onto the Google templates. But I did upload a few posts if you are interested... This one was about the closed mill at the end of the Oregon Trail - http://sowewent.blogspot.com/2014/11/the-blue-heron-mill-site-and-willamette.html?m=1
