(24,146 posts)it's my second winter up here and i'd forgotten (or blocked out) that february meant weeks of waking up to a real feel of -25. i'm pretty resilient until this time of year and then i just start crying and whining.

(8,445 posts)I grew up in North Dakota and can't bear the thought of spending any part of winter there. I've been in Colorado for a LONG time now. It does get cold here, but it's nothing like it was up there. I went back for a visit in January once and I honestly think my bones froze for the entire week I was there. I mean, I could never get warm.
It just wasn't where I was meant to be. I'm *home* now.

(24,146 posts)i don't know what kills me more: the ass biting cold or the fact that i can go a week without seeing anything in the sky but clouds.

(34,661 posts)remember many a morning of -25 to-52 below. That cold bugger was Xmas morning 1962 . Traveled eastern SoDak for many a year, the only thing that slows the wind down are the state tree of North Dakota the Telephone pole. Oh btw, notice you are about to tie the record of Snow fall in again. 1968-69 winter with 177 inches. That one was a real ugly winter. Especially along the Ridge,

(19,459 posts)I especially like the second one. What a beautifully composed photo. It feels like I could step right into that scene, and the color is gorgeous.
And hi! Great to see you posting!
