I go hiking in Death Valley twice a year, mainly to look for petroglyphs, blinds, old village sites etc.
Here are some from last March.

(86,572 posts)Glyphs are hard to photograph, I have found, My excursions have mostly been to Utah, there's a lot there. Never been to Death Valley and I didn't know there were petroglyphs there, but I could have guessed.
Nice pictures, great subject.

(836 posts)Ever find artifacts?
I live in the Midwest and have walked fields and creeks for over 40 years searching for arrowheads, etc.

(19,459 posts)Have you ever hiked or driven along Fish Slough Road? Coming from the south, it starts about 6 miles north of Bishop, runs along the eastern Sierra and ends up by Mammoth. Lots and lots of petroglyphs and occupation sites.
The sites out there have been pretty heavily traveled, but most people stay fairly close to the road.
Sounds like youre seeing less visited sites.

(97 posts)However, I am heading up to Deep Springs Lake to check out some sites for a day on the DVNP border and the lake area.
I spend 5-6 days out there twice a year (I fly from Oklahoma to Vegas and get a rental car).
The sites in DVNP are pretty undisturbed, there are a few I've discovered that were previously unknown!

(97 posts)Blinds are hunting blinds, there is a partially collapsed one.
As for artifacts, I have found a lot. Here are the cast-offs from tool-making at one site.
