Related: About this forumSad news. I need some help.
My sister in law has succumbed to cancer and I will be flying out of town in a couple days for services. It will be quite difficult to run the seasonal contest from my cell phone. Maybe when I return I can take it back over, but I can't be sure of a timeline at this point.
Can I call upon one you to run the Winter seasonal contest? My thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out.

(31,464 posts)Always great, generous people in this group. Now just to deal with "reality." My SIL is also a close friend I went to HS with. She married my wife's brother. This is very hard...she's way too young. Anyway, thank you thank you thank you.

(31,464 posts)My mother died a little over a month ago. The day after my brother's MIL died (our mom's were friends, and supposedly had a pact to go out together...and they did). Then my DIL's mom died a couple of weeks ago. Now this. Lots of dying going on.
Thanks Obama.
(Sorry, seeking levity wherever I can find it.)

(31,319 posts)but you said you were seeking levity wherever you could find it...and I thought "at least you're getting a lot of wear
out of your black suit".
My bad. Really. Everyone says deaths seem to come in three's--and you're over the limit! Enough! I am so sorry that you are
experiencing all these losses. You must be in shock from it.
As I said, I'm happy to run the Winter contest, no problem.

(31,464 posts)I thought the same thing about suit. I'm getting my money's worth. I'm sure ready for the dying stuff to be over, but these days 60 seems to be the new 90. People my age (I still have a couple of years left before sixty, hopefully!) are dropping like flies. Maybe we really did have too much fun in the seventies!

(31,319 posts)We had a good friend--my age--die at 63 a couple of years ago. He retired at 60 and was diagnosed with esophageal cancer about 3 months later. Fought it for close to 3 years before it got him.
It seems as though if you can make it past the early to mid-60's you seem to get a chance for another decade at least. Strange, isn't it?
Carpe diem, my friend, at any age!
