There is a place half an hour away that has a three acre (I'm guessing) Christmas lights extravaganza. The family that puts it on is stopping it after 50 years. It is Kitsch to the max and so wonderful it has to be chronicled.
But not by me.
So for my Christmas post I show two photos from it, and a shot of Lola in the arms of my friend Danny, who ran the Bernie campaign here in the area, and who still visits.
Thanks for your care and attention not just through the year but always. I am seriously augmented by being part of you, and I learn all the time.
Happy Holidays, take care of yourselves and those around you, and let's all hope for the best in the next (dreaded) year.

(22,469 posts)I'm thinking of you and hope your Christmas is as good as you and yours can make it. I know your next month will have to be endured, and I trust that it will pass and bring better times.
Sending you lots of love.

Give Lola a hug from me. The best things about dogs is their ability to love unconditionally. To them we are the most wonderful beings in the world. My fur-babies would stay with me while I was recovering from treatment, always snuggling next to me. They never left my side except to eat and go for a walk. The second they got back, they would reclaim their spots.
I love you.
Mannheim Christmas Market
One of the best things about living in Germany was traveling around to the various markets during Christmas. They weren't just something for the holidays, the markets seemed to be integral to the very character of the country and the people. Not just an event, but life. If that makes sense.
