(19,459 posts)I was really drawn to the (vanishing point?) perspective it created. Always willing to be corrected on these things...

(22,380 posts)Even the sign in the middle is important, which I might have cursed (or moved temporarily -- it breaks into the unworldly feel of the photo as a whole. It does that better even than the two figures, because they are so symmetrical as well, and look like little dolls that have been placed there on purpose.
What a fine job. And the black/white is the icing on this cake.

(19,459 posts)You always provide such useful feedback, and I appreciate that.
I wish I could say that I purposely set up the shot to take advantage of those things you mentioned; however, I was primarily drawn to the (vanishing point perspective?) provided by the concrete deck lines; not only by the joints, but also by the alternating light/dark pattern. I was using a Tokina wide angle lens, and I figured the sign would help keep things interesting by providing an object in the foreground. And I thought it would probably look good in B&W. Everything else was a pleasant surprise (for instance: I was so focused on putting the café and sign where I wanted them in the frame that I barely noticed the couple sitting on the concrete bench).
Anyway, I really appreciate critiques of things I post, both positive and negative. I have a lot to learn.
