i tromped around for the first time in a long time

took a walk the other evening in the hopes of catching some bald eagles. i spotted a few nests but no one was home, but it wasn't a wasted walk.

it was cold out





but that didn't bother the geese





this one shouted at me a few times for hovering. damned near sure it was a golden eagle.

4. we got near 40 today

nicest day we've had in more than a bit. we appear to be among the few actually having winter this year.

Will walk around a bit, sunny 47 forecast high for today, 51 Sunday, 38 Monday, 33 !!! Tuesday, and THEN up to 53 Friday Jan. 8!!!

May uncover last year's and year before's snow and ice pics as in my first winter at my 'cottage' 2 years ago, clearly proving I can LIVE here!!!

i'm coming out on the other side of it, though. it felt good to get out for a walk and i need to get back in the habit.

my city has so many beautiful natural areas and open spaces. we're going to one i haven't visited before and i'm looking forward to it.

9. Looks like the raptor has something in its claws.

The tail and pointed wings makes me think it is a Peregrine Falcon.

I saw my first eagle back in the late sixties in Africa. I was awestruck.

13. i could not remember peregrine falcon last night

i kept coming up with osprey and knew that was wrong. it was incredible to watch and i'm pretty pleased i was able to get that shot with my little camera.

16. Falcons have pointed wings and straight tails.

They have a need for speed.
