I find it so emotional to have things that my parents (one or the other) made...which is why my house is too full of sentimental crap.

BTW, that is needlepoint, not embroidery. (I just had to say that since I do both.)

I knew it was needlepoint! No idea why I didn't call it by its proper name...oh well. I was really amazed at the way it swirls around and covers the entire fabric.

I don't think your house, or mine, can ever be too full of beautiful things that our parents made...It's such a great way to remember them.

Needlepoint is stitched on an open weave ground fabric, usually very stiff and called canvas. Sometimes people call needlepoint "tapestry" but tapestries are woven.

Embroidery encompasses needlepoint in some definitions but usually is threads worked on any fabric most often on a close weave.

I'm a member of the American Needlepoint Guild and the Embroiderers Guild of America and have stitched for most of my life.

I love the design and the colors - I wonder if that is a Kaffe Fassett design? He's noted for his exuberant use of color:

I knew it was needlepoint, but neglected to word it properly...sorry!

The design does rather look like a Kaffe Fassett work, but I have no idea. And I can't ask my mom, since she passed earlier this year.

Glad you enjoyed it!

My mom also painted and I inherited several of her paintings.

My dad made a couple of end tables and I treasure them.

I use the tools when needed. I use the Wiss 10" scissors often. Too bad I didn't get the Pfaff sewing machines. His partner hid them after dad died. I just wanted one of them.
