August Photo Contest- Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (and Bikes and Boats) - DISCUSSION THREAD

I went to a "Wings & Wheels" show this afternoon at a local field. I saw planes I never thought I'd ever see close up, including an awesome Cessna 195 (aren't they all?). There were 140s and homebuilts alongside Skyhawks and every type of Cub imaginable, including a rare "Carbon Cub". All this for a $5 donation to the Animal Welfare League (I gave $10).

They were taking off two at a time and buzzing the field all along a grass runway lined with cool cars. A blues rock band played throughout the afternoon.

Excellent picture. How did you get it?

5DMkll 1/500sec.; iso 800. Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS, at f/10 and 300mm.

He had made a turn, and displayed a nice profile.
The clouds add to the illusion.

It's great for this sort of thing. I've got pictures of Dall sheep way up on a hillside, and it looks like I'm right next to them.

Entries have been coming in at a steady clip since the contest opened, 17 spots open and 10 days to go.

They're looking great so far.
