For Johnny Noshoes - though it does not prove

that I was thinking about you
as I was terrified in NYC traffic yesterday (having had no idea the GPS thing would take me through Manhattan)
and after coming out unscathed physically my battered emotions were very grateful for what I got to see after many years of not having visited NYCity.

2. I did that once

And almost a second time. The second time, I caught the last exit before the tunnel and then figured out what to do to stay out of the city.

The first time, I was driving south from Boston and made a wrong turn somewhere, it was before GPS and ended up in Manhattan. When I realized where I was, I headed west to find the nearest bridge out.

Manhattan is a fun place to visit, but I would not want to drive one block in that city.

4. I'm with you and I live in NYC.

Lived here my whole life - have never learned how to drive. I don't NEED a car in the city.

3. Like 'em both.

Especially the firescape one. It looks like it might be along Canal Street since you were headed for the Tunnel. I love the old architecture in Tribeca and Soho with all the old converted industrial loft buildings. Outrageously expensive condos, and co-ops but at least they're buildings with character.

5. The thing I hate most about driving in Manhattan isn't the traffic

traffic is pretty bad here in the DC area. It's the lack of signs that tell you the rules. For example, I didn't know it was illegal in NYC to turn right on red--at the time I lived in PA and unless there was a sign that said "No Turn on Red" you could turn on red. Got pulled over for that in NYC but the cops were nice enough to issue a verbal warning about it.

Another thing I noticed was the lack of speed limit signs and trying to find parking that isn't tied to a garage is almost impossible. Now when I go, I drive to Hoboken, park in a lot there and take the train in.

BTW, I really, really like the fire escape photo.

6. Those are both really great shots...

...I can't decide which one is better. Hopefully it made it worth it for you!

7. Great composition

I spent some time studying the fire escapes. There are more angles there than a debate on climate change. Good eye, great crop.

8. Love these!

The trip was worth it from a photography point of view.
