A$AP Rocky found guilty of assault over Stockholm brawl
Reuters in Stockholm Wed 14 Aug 2019 13.11 BST A Swedish court has found US rapper A$AP Rocky guilty of assault for his role in a street brawl in Stockholm. He was given a suspended sentence. The artist, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, had pleaded self-defence and said he had tried to avoid a confrontation with two men who he said were persistently following his entourage. One of them picked a fight with one of Mayers’ bodyguards, the rapper told the Stockholm district court. The 30-year-old rapper and his two bodyguards were released on 2 August pending the verdict. All three have returned to the United States and are not legally obliged to be present in Stockholm. 1. Ha! While I'm certain the US and Sweden have a reciprocal extradition treaty,
I don't see A$AP Rocky voluntarily returning to Sweden to accept his punishment and/or Trump turning him over to the Swedish government.

2. Why does he need to go back and serve a suspended sentence?

3. My bad. I never heard of a suspended sentence for conviction of assault.

4. I have a feeling this was a verdict designed by diplomacy and politicians.

5. You may be correct. I'm a criminal attorney and my client was facing 15 years in prison
for aggravated assault and leaving an injured victim with the prospect of death. A suspended sentence is quite unusual.
