Music Appreciation
Related: About this forumOn February 4, 2000, Bjorn Ulvaeus confirmed that ABBA turned down a $1B offer to reform the group.
Full disclosure: I'm just using this as a cheap excuse to post a video of ABBA performing "Take a Chance on Me." I am growing concerned about the lack of posts about ABBA in the Music Appreciation group. This cannot go on.
Take it away, Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
Hat tip, This Day in Music
Bjorn Ulvaeus confirmed that the members of ABBA had turned down a $1 billion (£0.58 billion) offer by American and British consortium to reform the group. "It is a hell of a lot of money to say no to, but we decided it wasn't for us," band member Benny Andersson told the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

(10,599 posts)Youre depriving Millions around the world who never got a chance to see you perform, and others who did, the chance to do so. and in the process, make $250 Million a piece.
It wasnt for us. What does that mean?
Life can be short. Other groups like Rush, wish they still had the chance of playing together.
You were given this talent, that nobody else has. Lightning in a bottle. Why deprive the world of the chance to see and hear that talent while you still can? And rake in a boatload of money in the process.

(54,944 posts)hated touring. The stresses had probably contributed to their marriages breaking up.
And the deal was for them to do 100 shows. (At least. Agnetha said in one interview that it was 250.)
There's more to life than work. And they'd already given us so much great music.

(10,599 posts)I imagine Taylor Swift should have called it quits already, because she's already older than Agnetha was when ABBA broke up. Madonna is twice her age.
There's more to life than work, but the majority of musical acts, with that level of talent, get enjoyment making new music and playing in front of a crowd. It's a shame that ABBA didn't.
I'm just angry since I was only 16 when they broke up, so I never got to see them Live, or experience new music from them.
