I wasn't. I always wonder what it was like to have experienced that shift in music, to hear it when it was new...I can only think it must be somewhat like having gone from B&W TV to color. Your article illuminates the experience very well.

But...I will respectfully disagree about Abbey Road. To me at least, that was their greatest work. The Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End medley still sends chils down my spine.

Very enjoyable read. Wish I could get a 50 cent haircut!

I was born in 1973, but my first experience listening to Pepper was also when I was 13. Listening to a record. With headphones. Without drugs. Mind blown!
