Im a proud Aunt of a tenor who will be traveling to Italy for a few weeks to study and sing. He is so excited to have this opportunity. Has anyone been to ISCHIA, ITALY and recommend places to see?
Thank you for any information youd like to share.

(98 posts)Thank you for polling your family Usonian. Speaking of small worlds by you listening to Pagliacci- I was able to see my nephew perform this opera in New Mexico.
I love when he sings this opera.
Just recently I saw him perform Puccinis Il Tabarro In Knoxville with Marble City Opera. It was staged outdoors by a lake. A different and wonderful experience.
Thank you for sharing the above links.
I wish I was more tech savvy so I could paste links correctly ( per DU standards )about my nephew to share. (Did I mention I was Proud Aunt? LOL) I will have to learn soon.
Thank you again.

(14,104 posts)First, DU's software does not render many links properly. In that case, you have to use the link tool (two links in a chain). Select text, click on the tool, and paste the URL.
My cousin, an artist and author, sent the following.
. Take a boat tour around the island (last time I was there, they were only in Italian and German). Its amazing to see the how this volcanic island just pushed itself out of the water
. Visit Castello Aragonese. Walk the causeway from Ischia Porto. Maybe find a guide.
. Visit Forio and its beautiful little Chiese del Soccorso
. If youre adventurous, have a mud bath and massage
. Visit a beach or two
. Walk around the port at sunset
You can take a public bus that circumnavigates the island. Its a cheap way to get around, and you get to see more than the average tourist.

And, as Sean Bianco, of "At the Opera", linked previously, says: "keep opera in your heart."
