Scored big time!

After years of hearing upon arriving at garage and estate sales that someone bought all the records earlier in the day it's my turn to be that guy.

Garage sale of a auction storage unit. Not much really as I was leaving inquired about records. "Yeah haven't dug them out yet, maybe later". Well came back after running quick errands and asked again he went and started hauling out 5 big boxes.

From the first look I knew this was going to cost me. Lucky I had most so I could leave gems for others to find.

Seller told me he might have to pull some of my choices if HE wanted them as he hadn't gone through them.

Pulled 73 for myself, as he went through them i could see him yank a couple and mutter to himself.

Still he let me have all 73 for $200.

Were some of the gems among many other 1960 1970 classics. Most have plastic sleeves all pristine.

The best part is leaving behind 4 boxes for someone else to find what they looking for.
I buy for myself and don't do resell.

1. My best record score was at an Amish barn sale.

lady had a stack for a buck each. starting looking at em and setting every one on the aside. Gave up and just counted them all and it came to 90 LPs. Ash if would like to get rid of all them for $45. Sure she said. all 1980s and in mint condition, some never opened..Lots of promotional copies with not for retail sale..No hundred dollar one, but tons of $40 to $60 ones.
At an Amish sale, go figure

2. Had a similar experience

In the late 80s my neighbors daughter was having a garage sale at their house. She had been married only
about 6 months when her husband a disc jockey was killed in a car accident. I went over after getting off
work at noon, and Sally remarked the CDs were selling real good but not much interest in the albums and
she wasn't looking forward to taking all them back to her place, about 3 dozen boxes. I had noticed every
one I picked up was marked like yours promotional copy/not for retail sale, most were rock & roll.

Was thinking that should make them more valuable so "What would you take for all the albums and I'll get
them out of your hair?" After a short conversation with her dad (who I got along with real well) she said
"Well there's about a thousand left, quarter a piece and I don't care to count them?" "SOLD, let me go get
you $250 cash"

Sat in my living room several months when a used music store opened up in town, grabbed one box of about
50 and went there. Took him an hour to pull every one out and look for scratches, then offered a dollar apiece.
When paying me he asked if I had any more, "3 dozen boxes" "Bring them over I'd like to look them over"
"Sorry no way am I wasting 36 hours of my time while you look for scratches, these are all from the estate
of (I forget) the disc jockey who passed away recently." He made a few comments about knowing or meeting
him and replied "OK bring them over and we'll just count them."

Went home, backed the ElCamino into the driveway, loaded it up and took all of them to him. Left with
$1,5xx and had my living room back. Treated Sally to a few nights out on the town, she never did ask
what I did with them, glad she didn't.
