(35,437 posts)I'm almost finished with season 4. Man, it's really hard watching some characters (Shireen, Hodor) when you know their fate. It's a real tough watch at times.
Also, I found a possible clue on how the entire series will end:
we have company right now, so can't watch it.

(I don't see Randyll trying to treat greyscale. Or face down White Walkers.) I remember how damaged and abused and brainwashed Samwell was. (Also, I recall how Randyll treated Brienne. And his wife.)
Meh. Tarly Flambé was a satisfying end to a most deserving amateur class asshole. Sam will be an excellent Lord Tarly.
If they wanted to me think Dany was behaving badly -- I don't think she was, in terms of medieval rules of war -- they needed to pick a more sympathetic pair of assholes.

Solly Mack
(90,762 posts)Rhaegar and Robert were 2nd cousins. Robert's father was the son of Rhaelle Targaryen.
Gendry is Daenerys' third cousin.
Jon is Robert Baratheon's 3rd cousin as well.
Also, Jon and Gendry are cousins.

Hmm, if Tyrion is his son, instead of Tywin's, his claim is better than Dany's...otoh only half Targaryen.
Solly Mack
(90,762 posts)But, also, in the Targaryen line, the women were way down the list to inherit the throne, after uncles and even cousins.
I think the laws of legitimacy still apply though. So Tyrion, not so much.
But Rhaegar and Lyanna were married, so Jon, definitely legitimate.

Arya has been trained in killing and being quick and stealthy and has only been training 3-4 years. Political deception is a bit different than being deceptively quick and deadly.

(9,808 posts)Littlefinger was there when she wrote it, and Robb knew it was coerced the moment he read it, but Arya wasn't there so doesn't know the context. The letter reflects badly on Sansa if you don't know that context, so I assume this is Littlefinger trying to pot stir to isolate Sansa.
Again, I repeat: the Stark children suck at communication. Will someone please invent pizza night so they can be in a room with the doors closed and just talk? Also, therapists.

(89 posts)King Robert is dead, killed from wounds he took in a boar hunt. Father (did something out of the frame) Joffrey and tried to steal his throne. The Lannisters want you to come to King's Landing and swear fealty to King Joffrey and (presumably) the Iron Throne.
Your faithful sister,
Sansa
This was the letter they made Sansa write to Robb. What Littlefinger is up to here is probably sowing discord between Arya and Sansa. It might work.

(9,808 posts)All of the ones who have been in a desert/tropics for years. Jon and Davos should be stripped down to Ts and cargos and flip-flops, basking in the sun, while the rest should be bundled and chattering, and the ones now at the Wall from the South should be miserable. (Oh, and more HATS. Out in a snow storm without a hat?!?)
Bran, too, should be taking in the relative warmth, and Arya should be semi-miserable since Braavos is somewhat warmer year round.

(56,828 posts)I'm pretty sure that most of the 7 that left Eastwatch will not be returning.
We have
Jon Snow
Jorah Mormont
The Hound
Tormund Giantsbane
Thoros of Myr
Beric Dondarrion
Gendry
Thoros and Beric are likely goners. Ser Jorah, Gendry, Tormund and The Hound are all 50/50, I think.
My guess it will be Jon and one other that return? Will we got Zombie Sandor? That might be too big for Jon to control, I think?
Baitball Blogger
(46,700 posts)Never thought of that plot twist.
I think these will survive:
Jon - I don't think Jon can be killed by them. Fire and ice. Just a hunch.
Mormont - Don't know why, but I suspect that Jon may realize he likes Dany when he gets envious of Mormont's close relationship to Dany.)
The Hound (He and Arya still need some kind of closer. Frankly, he was a father figure for her for a while.)
Tormund - Ahhh, give Tormund a chance. He and Brienne need at least one night together.
Gendry - He is going to be Jon's Hand. Also, if he has Targaryn blood in him, it's possible that he may also be immune to the White Walker touch. -- Just my theory.

(24,406 posts)I thought that this season ends with Dany taking KL and Cersei deposed/dead. Now, I'm not so sure. Also, not sure exactly how Jon and co. are literally going to a.)Capture a Wight (or Whitewalker?) and b.)Get it down to KL. More importantly, how in the hell are they going to trust Cersei with a meeting that doesn't end with them dead or imprisoned?
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)I had also heard that one of the dragons would be killed by the wights or white walkers and be raised as a zombie dragon, but it doesn't seem like enough time for that to happen in only 2 more episodes?
Frankly, I wish they would at least give a shout out to the passage of time - Jon going from Winterfell to Dragonstone and then to Eastwatch is something that might take weeks, if not months. It's a long overland journey from Winterfell to a port where they can then sail to Dragonstone.
They mentioned Winter had arrived at the end of last season - maybe have Sam in Oldtown say "We've been here for a year since Winter started looking through these books..."
Proud Liberal Dem
(24,406 posts)they have to compress time to move the characters around to where they need to go. They just have to. I get that some of it doesn't make a lot of sense but OTOH it's sort of better than some of the earlier seasons where characters spent an interminable amount of time traveling from one place to another and made the show extremely dull/boring. Season 5 was the best example of this.
