They have golf carts at the airport you can take to the Pit BBQ joint in town.

Fredericksburg is pretty nice too. The owner of the Cabernet Grill will drive over to the airport and pick you up if it's not too busy.

McGehee's Catfish Restaurant used to be a nice place to go until they shut the airport down after some jackass tried to stuff his twin in there and killed one of his passengers.

Best fresh trout, pick out the one you want swimming in the pool, baked on a clay roofing tile with herbs and butter, fresh pita bread and a salad on the side. I damn near ate the bones too-it was that good.

It would be a night game at Wrigley Field. Hot dogs and beer for dinner. Or, maybe an Italian beef sandwich.

I would say a luau on Maui or Kauai, but I would want to stay longer than for dinner.

In the movies, the handsome rich guy always flies the pretty girl to Paris for dinner...... Yeah, it's a fantasy.

Wedding anniversary today, and tho we're separated, we and our daughters are still travelers.
We drove around Italy, and had NOT ONE bad meal, ANYwhere, along the road, at random restaurants, or at recommended restaurants.
Found first night Rome restaurant, again, when visiting with my daughter few years ago, not far from the Fontana di Trevi.

Several years ago I took my wife to dinner in London one night.
From Boston.

I was a TWA pilot.
I'd just flown a BOS-LHR-BOS trip.
2 day layover in London.

After landing in BOS I ran into an old friend who was taking the same airplane back to LHR on the same route. His wife was going along, on a pass (naturally).
He said "Grab Miz t. and come over tomorrow. We'll go out to dinner."
We did.

I got us passes in first class.
Freebie. (You could do that back then.)
We were excelently wined and dined across the North Atlantic, had a lovely dinner with our friends in London, and came back on his flight the next day.

Those were the days.
(sigh)

Burning torches, amazing food, the waves lapping at the shore, and only twelve time zones from here.

On the other hand, I'm in Barcelona (my old home from my teenage years) tonight, my wife is with me,
and we're going to one of my favorite Catalan places in the Gothic Quarter. Could be worse. It's tourist
season already here, and the hoards are out in force, but I always manage to get a little better service
as I can speak Catalan, and the masses of tourists usually don't .

Antoni Gaudí's presence is everywhere, but all the rest as well, from the Roman times on up.
This place is VERY special. I always enjoy coming back here. I hate that we have to fly back to
Germany tonight already, but I have to work in Belgium tomorrow. Still, like all of Arnie's characters
say, I'll be back.
