Any fans of the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team? I just saw that Tony DiCicco died.

I was on vacation last week and only recently saw, by accident when I was searching for something else, that Tony DiCicco had died of cancer last Monday.

For those who don't know, Tony DiCicco coached the women's team for the greater part of the 1990s, when they won a World Cup title and an Olympic Gold Medal. The 1999 World Cup team did so much to spark women's involvement in sports. DiCicco was a brilliant coach who had written extensively about coaching women and his experience developing players like Mia Hamm and Julie Foudy.

Despite not being a big name in sports, he is, in my opinion, one of the most important people for American sports in the last 20 years. RIP, sir.
