Give me a viable solution before I start killing them, and I'm not kidding.
Things that won't work:
1. No-kill shelters. None around here, and certainly none that will catch and relocate feral animals
2. Animal control. Won't do anything unless it's a dog and has already attacked someone
3. Aromatic deterrents. I don't care to trade the stench of cat piss for the stench of mothballs, etc. And I'm not at all convinced that these methods even work.
Other suggestions?

(19,288 posts)Maybe human urine WOULD deter them. Gentleman, mark your territory. Pissing contests be damned!

(20,277 posts)We are going to have to cart it outside in a jar though. I don't think the other apartment residents would appreciate plein air pissing.
I'll be looking for some coyote urine or something this weekend at sporting goods store. Those bastards can go piss and raise hell under somebody else's kitchen window.

(28,791 posts)but really, could it be any worse than cat pee? the cats will be able to smell it for much longer than you will be able to, and you may have to use it only once a year or so (if they come back after the first time)
good luck!

(2,860 posts)I had some growing in front of my house and all the cats in the neighborhood were stopping by to partake. If you have any growing around your house you should get rid of it. Valerian root (aka 'catroot') is another plant that attracts them. It smells like stinky socks and they love that one too. You might want to check with any cat rescue groups in your area. They might be able to help you. Good luck. I had the same problem, but I have a female cat that hangs out on my porch and chases the others away. She does not pee on the porch.

(8,170 posts)with a bit of wolf pee in it. A quick search found these people predatorpee.com. Obviously I don't know the company so this is not a recommendation, just a find.
By putting the predator urine in the soaker you use less and most will attach to the dear pussy cat.

(39,343 posts)Human, male urine marking your territory tells the cats to bug off. I have to do it here every six months or so when the neighborhood ferals get excited.
If you're too shy you can always collect it inside and pour it around the perimeter of your house under cover of darkness.

(8,515 posts)Spray solution that will actually take the smell away. Also, keep a spray bottle on the porch and spray them liberally when they encroach.

(36,827 posts)Years ago I had a feral cat that kept shitting in my flower beds. I called animal control and they lent me a trap. I went out of town for a night and when I returned, the cat was in the trap, and had been in there for perhaps as long as 24-48 hours or so. Since I didn't know how long he had been in the trap, I decided to let him go to keep from traumatizing him any more. As soon as I opened the trap, he took off like he had been shot from a canon and I never saw him again. I guess just the experience of being in the trap was enough to discourage him from coming back.
At any rate, cats are easy enough to trap and you can just relocate him. I suggest finding an area that is sparsely populated about 15 miles away at least.
