Yeah, SARANDON has trolled us politically for a decade or more, but the two of them did a bang-up job with this, and I say, especially LANGE. The whole thing was not camp and humanized the subjects.
I'll be skipping the 2nd season (Charles/Diana), total lack of interest.

I think "Feud" will end up with a few Emmy nominations.
I can't stand Sarandon's politics, but she is amazing as Bette Davis.

(6,839 posts)Jessica Lange has been amazing and her performance in the last episode is Emmy-winning!
I think she brought out the sensitive and vulnerable side of Joan Crawford.
So sad to see the series end...

(70,683 posts)one another, whether Davis/Crawford or Sarandon/Lange. But we're not doing that, so whoopee!1 And especially in the last installment there seemed to be just sheer more time given to Crawford/Lange, which I didn't expect. But the biggest thing I didn't expect was how they were shown as almost real people versus the celebrity image.

(2,682 posts)I doubt that it will have the interest the Joan/Bette season had. The Charles/Diana feud had way too much publicity as it happened, it happened within the life-memory of most of us, and what more could possibly be said about the two of them. The reason Joan/Bette was so fascinating is that it was always rumored there was a feud, but little detail was ever known. And, most of it happened long enough ago to not be fresh in our memories. I had no idea Joan was up for the role of the cousin in Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte. I think de Havilland did a great job in that movie.

As for Joan/Bette, I knew nothing except for DAVIS's talk show bits, but always had this BIG image of her, and I was intrigued at how CRAWFORD was shown as big yet how both of them were humanized and how celebrity imaging was treated as just a job.

(16,334 posts)Sarandon deserves props but wasn't nearly the caliber of Lange in this series in my opinion.
I had heard that Olivia De Havilland is 100! Will be 101 in July and was asked about the Bette and Joan series and the 1963 Oscars. Her reply:
I have received your email with its two questions, De Havilland replied. I would like to reply first to the second of these, which inquires of me the accuracy of a current television series entitled Feud, which concerns Bette Davis and Joan Crawford and their supposed animosity toward each other. Having not seen the show, I cannot make a valid comment about it. However, in principle, I am opposed to any representation of personages who are no longer alive to judge the accuracy of any incident depicted as involving themselves.
De Havilland added, As to the 1963 Oscar ceremony, which took place over half a century ago, I regret to say that I have no memory of it whatsoever and therefore cannot vouch for its accuracy.
