Now all the other Mockingbirds will want snowshoes too.

A tiny mockingbird is on the road to recovery, thanks to experts at a wildlife center in California, US, who lent a helping hand.

Staff at the California Wildlife Center (CWC) came to the rescue of a cute Northern Mockingbird with a foot condition that made it difficult for it to perch or walk.

CWC wrote on their website: “She was unable to open her feet to stand or perch.

“This was causing the bird to have to stand on the tops of her toes which were curled under and causing her additional injury.

“CWC veterinary staff created ‘snowshoes’ for the mockingbird to retrain her feet to open and allow the injuries to her toes to heal.”

They added that the treatment was success and the mockingbird is now “snowshoe-free” and on the road to a complete recovery.

Around the turn of the present century, we were visited annually by a very talented chap. He could do a car alarm, which drove the neighbors crazy.

Then one spring, he came no more. Oddly enough, we haven't gotten any mockingbirds around here for the past several years. I miss them.

you will get some back in your area. I keep hoping for them to come to my area. I've seen them a 1-5 miles away. I'm hopeful some new ones will find my yard in a few years so I keep planting bird-attracting trees and bushes in the hopes that will attract them.

They love to be up high, so we always had them squabbling over the light just outside my bedroom window.
