Children, above age six, should have the right to vote.

Children's suffrage, because they have the most to gain or lose by the various outcomes.

6. We could always try Heinlein's idea.

Anyone can vote, but you have to answer some sort of question to prove you can think and reason. A math, history, geography, etc question. So a smart 10 year old would be able to vote, but their less intelligent parent might not be able to vote.

7. That way, if we deny "certain people" an education, we can make sure only the "right people" vote.

Oh yeah, this idea is going places!

8. I understand the confusion.

The public behavior of many prominent Republicans make it SEEM that six-year-olds have been voted into office for decades now, and that many of them are currently serving in the US Congress, as governors of various states, or running for president as the duly chosen nominee of their party.

However I assure you, the six year old status refers solely to their emotional age and standard of behavior. Their true chronological age is actually much higher than that, despite all indications to the contrary.

11. That's...

That's pretty difficult to argue against. I think we should give it a try and see what happens.

14. Thank you for your replies

and the thoughtful humor. The smartest people I know are right here on DU.

I have been working 14-16 hr days and apologize for my absence from this thread. You didn't miss much. This thread is not abandoned!

I wish I could have voted as a kid, nullifying my Dad's Nixon votes. Mom probably voted Pop's way out of fear.

15. Whoa! I'm having second thoughts about this.

If a man can manipulate his wife to vote his way, he could do the same to his children. Or maybe just bribe and threaten them. Holy crap!

On edit: Suddenly you would be faced with a new demographic, where the largest families have more power.
