I cannot believe how empty the house seems without her. She is never not here. Sometimes we have boarded her if we are traveling, but then we are not at home either.

UPDATE
One vet in the same practice agreed it was a hernia and scheduled the surgery. Another one was supposed to actually perform the surgery. He made the decision that it was a fatty tumor and wanted to keep an eye on it to see if it grew. So, no surgery and no phone call at the time.
The secretary called and said we could pick up our dog and the vet wanted to talk to us.
We waited for 45 minutes and then left. The reason I have a poodle is I am allergic to animals - especially cats. I was starting to get a headache. The doctor was supposed to call us later - he didn't.
Right now I am in a quandary about what to do. If the doctor had called me at surgery time, I would have said to go ahead and remove the fatty tumor. I think I need to change vets. This is only the second time we have dealt with him and I think his best years are way behind him. I think I need a new vet.

(23,980 posts)As a dog dad myself, I agree - a house doesn't feel like home unless our babies are there.

(205,032 posts)My dog was a "pet shop rescue," ended up in rescue because he had a health problem - so couldn't be sold in some pet store. I felt pretty fortunate since he's not only a great dog, but his health problem was a hernia that was repaired right when he was neutered - and he's been fine ever since. And it certainly never slowed him down, LOL. Your baby will be fine, but I understand how much you must miss her...
