5. Nah.
Before it was discovered, Australia was not known to be the biggest island. But there is a semantic difference between what we know to be and what is.
If the question had been "what was the biggest known island before Australia was discovered," then Australia could not have been the answer. Greenland? Maybe not: was Greenland then known to be an island -- rather than, say, an archipelago? |

6. My issue is that Australia is considered to be a continent and not an island.
So the largest island before Australia was discovered is the same one after Australia was discovered
because Australia isn't an island. |

7. OK, but
it is commonly known as the "island continent." Picky, picky.

3. Hah! Got the first three immediately.
The fourth is a bit obscure, and I really overthought the fifth one.
Thanks! |

15. "Internet-users have been left baffled by these mind-boggling riddles "
Remember what George Carlin said about stupid people...
"think about how stupid the average person is, then realize half of them are stupider than that" |

22. It is really sad that we live in a time when the
thought of being educated is looked down upon and ignorence is lauded.
I have downloaded a few of George Carlin's routines and he is just as relevant today as he was when he was alive. I would lave loved to have seen him perform. |

23. Centuries ago, when I was a much younger lass, I saw him on the Johnny Carson show
when Carlin was long haired, and billed himself as the Hippy Dippy weatherman.
As such, he said.."tonight's forecast...it is gonna be...dark" The audience howled, carson was laughing, and I fell in love wth his brain instantly. |
