Charles Blondin

The 19th century daredevil of Niagara Falls was Charles Blondin, he crossed from the American to the Canadian side of the falls on a tightrope, stopping in the middle to haul up and drink a bottle of wine from the ship, Maid of the Mist, which anchored below him. On his walk back to the American side, he paused halfway, set up a camera, and took a picture from the middle of the falls. On subsequent walks across the gorge, he covered his head, pushed a wheelbarrow, cooked a breakfast, and carried his manager on his back. By the time he gave his final performance, in 1896, it was estimated that Blondin had crossed Niagara Falls 300 times and walked more than 10,000 miles on his rope.
