The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support Forumso.k., LoungeLizards, i need your VOTES!
Some of y'all, i have met in person, and have cooked for you...
You know firsthand the dedication i put into my work (even if i ~am~ a glorified burger-slinger).
Others (especially on Facebook), i have tortured with photos of the deliciousness i send out of my kitchen every day...
Now, the local Bud distributor here is running a "Best Burger in Morgantown WV" contest, and i need your VOTES!

(203,021 posts)My grandmother retired from New York to North Carolina, so my job was to go with her on the trip south to do most of the driving. She was always in such a hurry, we were only allowed to stop once, while I really wanted to check out places I'd never been along the way. The thing that sticks in my mind was that driving through West Virginia we saw actual buffalo! I had never seen buffalo before and they left a lasting impression!
I'm sure your pub is great, hope to check it out someday... I always choose local establishments over the chains.

Thought it would ~be fun~ to own a bar in a college-town, and there wasn't much competition downtown at the time.
Fast-forward a quarter-century, and Morgantown is over double in size, and WVU has over 30k students...
We have more competition downtown than there ever has been, but our little pub does a lot of things right, and we keep on truckin'...
Hope you win...
I'd love for you to cook a burger for me to go with this excellent, hoppy, malty Belgian Ale...
Rhythm
(5,435 posts)We'll pair it with one of our outstanding regionals...
There has been an exponential boom in craft brewing in WV,
and our pub currently serves an assortment of selections from over 15 WV brewers!

(8,217 posts)I haven't been in WV since March of last year.
It was amazing, and I loved it, but I don't think I will be going there again any time soon.
Good luck.

(25,816 posts)I would call to order pizza with no cheese, and they would ask "Is this panader0?"
The smell--ugh. I'm not polluting my blood vessels with cheese, I use other things.

(37,457 posts)I sometimes cut through WV to Ohio, then on to Chicago before I'm routed home. If I get a chance, I'd like to try one of your delicious looking burgers.

(78,249 posts)And Yelp indicates that there is a Dairy Queen downtown, yet it is not on the list. That's a snub worse than #TheOscarsAreSoWhite !!

Shit now I'm toast.

missing by not having come to prospective contestant's workplaces...
Trust me... i could have posted more pictures that would short-out your keyboard.
(from all the uncontrollable drooling).
I've worked at Gibbie's for 6 yrs, and managed the kitchen for the last 3.
We're two block away from WVU's main campus, so we get a lot of students and families in,
especially during football season.
