I wasn't doing that but was online pretty soon after this I think. Dial up modem and telnetting into a university system.

We just wanted to know how to use it, you know, like learning to drive. No. We had to learn all about what ran the computer. It was like having to learn to be a mechanic in order to learn to drive.
Even at the time I thought that was stupid.
