Things I will miss from Mumbai: Zomato

Is Zomato a thing in the US? I've become shamefully addicted to it.

I just ordered lunch while taking a break from debugging an Android app. I ordered a pav bhaji and a vada pav, (roughly, three absurdly buttery yeast rolls, one of them with a hash brown in it, the other two used to sop up a tomato/potato/chili/lentil stew), from the stall I like a few blocks away. It will show up in about 15 minutes and I'll pay the delivery guy (though I could also use my card). It has basically every restaurant in the city except for a vanishingly small number of luddite holdouts, and integrates with the restaurants' own delivery systems rather than hiring their own drivers like foodpanda. (Now, in fairness, part of this is that Mumbai is like NYC in that pretty much everywhere will deliver to begin with.)

What's the state of universal food delivery apps in the US? And specifically in DC, where I'll be moving back in a few months, if anybody knows?

I clicked on your OP expecting to read about a tomato hybrid.
I've never ordered from an app. I've seen subway ads for GrubHub though.

I haven't used a delivery service/app yet so I have no idea if they're good or not.

It used to be called Urban Spoon. But there is Door Dash for restaurant delivery, not as comprehensive as what you describe but they have a lot of restaurants.

Consider myself a mild version of a "foodie".

I've never heard of Zomato til just now... So, not a thing where I am.

Most people I know here in central Illinois consider Applebys and Ruby Tuesdays exquisite cuisine.
