9. i didn't think it could be a hologram...

6. Is this what the kids are seeing?

Or something added to the video later?

7. That's what they're seeing. I'll bet more than one of them is thinking: >

"I want to learn about THAT field of study!"

18. No it isn't

It's a CGI simulation of what the inventors plan to do, someday.

To be fair to the OP, it's deceptively titled on YouTube.

17. Not what the kids are actually seeing

It's a computer simulation of what the inventors intend to do... eventually.

It was a bit unfairly titled in the YouTube clip. A clue is how the kids react. If that was really happening before their eyes, they'd be totally transfixed instead of looking around as some are.

10. Good. Now we can close Seaworld!

And release actual Whales from performing.

13. That was incredible. I remember back in the 80s telling people

that within 10 years we'd have holograms instead of videos and Tim Conway would be a big hit with both young people and old.

This is way better.

16. It's probably projected on a screen to the left, so they can see themselves 'live'

I think the kids were told to ham it up, and they did a great job

19. OP should edit the title. This is not a hologram, but a composite image

Maybe someday, but not today.

20. Ahh if we want to complain about inaccuracies, even if it was what people call a hologram it isn't

The common effect that everyone calls holograms is based on a 150 year-old magic trick called Pepper's Ghost and has absolutely nothing to do with holograms.

23. Here's the most famous use of the Pepper's Ghost illusion

It was being advertised as a "hologram" but the technology's not that far along.
