Unfair treatment of cats in various media

I have noticed in movies, TV shows, and commercials, that when someone does something accidental (usually with things that go through the air) that it's the cat off-screen that gets hit, and the resulting yowl.

Recently, a Pom commercial got my attention that way as one of the Pom-characters lost an arrow and it hit (presumably) the owner's cat. Why couldn't it have been a human getting grazed or almost hit, and yelling "Hey! Watchit!"?

And I never (or maybe rarely) see any other animal getting hit for comedic purpose. I would imagine if it was a dog getting hit that the commercial/movie/TV-show would be edited right quick after a deluge of angry dog- and animal-lovers' complaints.

So, why do we cat-lovers put up with this shit?
