Amazing what the warm weather is causing in Raleigh - everything has opened at once!

Azaleas, daffodils, tulips, lilacs, Redbud, flowering cherry and crabapple trees, magnolias, Dogwood, forsythia, Spirea, spring perennials (solomon's seal, celadine poppy, epimedium), violas and pansies - just an absolute riot of color - all quite early, and all covered in a thick haze of yellow green pine pollen.

I do wonder how badly we will bake this summer!

I've only been here since 2004, but I don't recall the pollen being this thick so early. Pool Hall Ace Mar 2012 #1

Good thing generic Zyrtec is available at Dollar Tree, or I'd really be suffering!

I just went to Umstead Park during my lunch break and my shoes are now yellow. It's unreal.

The news last night had a story about it. They said that things that normally start blooming right now are blooming, and things that normally wait a little later in the Spring when it's warmer are blooming too, due to the higher than normal temperatures. That's why there's so much of the yellow crud.

Now, if only the fish would start biting.

Trees are budding, plants are starting to bloom and my allergies are going nuts. What a wacky year.
