(4,833 posts)The St. Louis area doesn't have national chain grocery stores (unless you count Aldi, which is actually based in Germany), and none of the local chains are listed.
Not that it matters much to us, as I can't remember the last time we bought ground beef. I'm a vegetarian, and the wife doesn't use ground beef, ever, for herself.
However, a list of fast-food places and/or prepackaged burger brands might be helpful.
Have to say, I'm not too surprised by the answers from the stores I'm familiar with. Pretty much what I would have expected.

Sounds like an evasion to me.
But since I no longer live in Texas it doesn't matter.
My Publix store does not use it.

(55,004 posts)most stores that grind their own (fresh in the foam trays) are going to be free of this stuff, but if you really want to be sure, buy whatever roast is on sale and have it ground. (and if it has bones, keep them for making broth)
