8. I do think that animals can form bonds like that

Decades ago, I lived next door to a family that moved in with a smallish tiger striped cat. Since the family had just had their second child, they knew they would have less time to pay attention to the cat, so they got him a pet. A St. Bernard. By the time the puppy grew up, it's head was bigger than the cat. But the cat was still boss. The cat groomed his dog every day. It was really cute to see.
