20. I LURVE that album!

There's a whole era of my life defined by that album and others like it. Garcia, Doc Watson, the whole Grateful Dawg years. And I fell in love with Stephan Grappelli when he played with Paul Simon and started following him then. SO talented, so playful. Got me into Mark Doucet and Joshua Bell. Of course I grew up on cajun fiddle and married a NC mountain man so fiddles, hell yeah.

I am actually not a great fan of Mr. Gaye in general, but that particular song I have always liked a great deal, from first hearing back when the movie was current.

48. Love Boogie Woogie piano and Dupree was one of the pioneers. Good stuff.

Glad you liked it Thackery He's one of the underrated guitarists in my opinion. I had the pleasure of meeting him at Jon Lee Hooker's club in San Francisco, nice guy and very accessible. Hard to say why his stuff never really met with the commercial success of some of his contemporaries. Just the way of the blues.

Here's one of my favorites.

44. Deadbolt's Voodoo Trucker just ended, Roky Erickson's I Have Always Been Here Before just starting..

But I shouldn't do these threads in general because I keep all my bizarre music in my permanent collection and just add "normal" albums for short doses until I get tired of them. So there's a built-in bias. After Roky is something form the Mercedes-Benz mix tapes, then Dave Kennedy's All By Myself and Bernie Krause's Trout From Ipanema.

They're playing it in Starbux, where I'm taking advantage of the free wifi. And as I listen, I realize I wrote a song in the 90s called Best Revenge (I'd just divorced my ex husband) that totally rips Bonnie off! Oops. Good thing my band sucked and we never got gigs outside the local dive bars! Otherwise I might have needed to settle a copyright suit!
