In honor of opening day for MLB - it's time for our yearly DU Tradition....

How soon until your favorite team will be mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. Post your predictions here.

I really thought the Reds were contenders last year then the All-Star Break happened and they tanked.

I'd like to think this year my beloved Cincinnati Reds will stay contenders until sometime through mid-August and then they will find a way to tank the season.

What is your prediction.

Post them here!!

They lack top-end pitching but the depth of their rotation is solid. Their lineup is strong enough that they have guys playing the outfield in AAA that would start for most teams.

Things are only going to get better if they can flip some of that outfield depth for a #1 starter.

will put an end to this "even years only" crap this year. We don't have the individual player stats that other teams have, but we never do. What we do have is incredible depth. There are a handful of guys in our AAA team that have World Series rings.

The Mariners have finally figured out King Felix can't win ballgames all by himself and have backed him up with good-quality position players. They'll make it to the ALDS but lose Game 5.

As for the Sox...in the last three seasons they went from worst to first to worst...introducing your 2015 World Series Champions, the Boston Red Sox! (Which will of course make Christmas dinner REAL uncomfortable in my house...freeper brother is a Yankees fan.)

I was at the park the day Bobby Bonds (Barry's dad) hit back to back 3 run home runs. My little brother had a stuffed dog that he named Toby in honor of Toby Harrah. Carried that thing around everywhere. As a Rangers fan I have had a lot of years where just enjoying the game was all I got because the Rangers sure weren't performing. But so what? My dad would get us some seats out in the bleachers and get me hot dogs and a coke and, when I turned 18, hot dogs and beer and I can't think of many things greater than an afternoon at a Rangers game with dad a hot dog and a beer.

I like to think after those two World Series appearances a while back that they got a taste for winning but I'm not gonna get too excited until they at least make the play-offs again. If they got healthy enough this off-season they could make a run but I expect them to fall just short at the end of the season. Regardless of how they're doing I'm gonna try to get down to Tampa in May and cheer them on just like old times.

A condition of sale to the new owner.

There's still hope for the Reds to be the cellar dweller.

I start out every season saying that.

From what I'm reading, Nationals & Dodgers are also looking good.

I don't know enough about it to say, but I do enjoy baseball.

will almost win the AL East but will face their inevitable fade in August and be very lucky with a Wild Card berth. They'll lose in the ALCS to a team I don't know yet.

Sigh. Probably another "rebuilding" year.
