The Crawfordsville Monster
The Crawfordsville Monster. September 5, 1891. Indiana. The Crawfordsville Journal reported two ice delivery men saw a “strange phenomenon” hovering in the air, describing it as a “horrible apparition” about 18 ft long and 8 ft wide, like a white shroud with no head, but one great eye, propelled by fins. It made a wheezing sound.
There were other sightings of this phenomenon until two local men, John Hornbeck and Abe Hernley tracked the beast and found it to be a flock of many hundred kildeer.
