The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsSo, I went to the hospital...
This morning I had tremors of the arms and had to be taken to the emergency room. They gave me a CAT scan - which, sadly, does not involve an actual cat- and they did rule out a brain tumor, so whew on that. I'm going to see some other doctors for tests. Right now I'm resting at home. I was reviewed by the financial support lady at the hospital, and because my income was very low last year, I don't have to pay for the visit. Double whew. I had just started a new job two weeks ago, and I don't know at this point if I'll be able to keep the job. The tremors have been very violent and can lead to me losing control of my arms, legs and tongue.
If you like prayer, or meditation, or whatever's your thing... Please keep a good thought. Much appreciated.
Oh, and here's a sleeping cat.

(2,682 posts)I can sympathize with you on the tremors. Early last year I had tremors so bad my teeth were chattering. I could barely walk and couldn't even hold a pen to sign myself in to the hospital. The only thing that helped (in the short term) was warm blankets. Turned out I was septic from blocking infected kidney stones. It was a long, tedious adventure, but I eventually healed and am ok today.
Hope everything works out for you.

(6,546 posts)I hope it's something that can be controlled, modern medicine can do amazing things.
I can relate to the brain tumor scare. I had a grand mal seizure in 1995 & a brain tumor was suspected. Thankfully there were none. Not epilepsy either, I passed all those tests with flying colors. They never did find a cause, which they say is pretty common for an adult onset seizure disorder like mine. (Mine is nocturnal, I've only ever had them 1-2 hrs after falling asleep. At the point where my brain waves should transition to REM sleep they just go haywire, totally freak out, & it's seizure time.)
I want to encourage you because after 6-7 initial seizures over a few years they found a medication combination that works for me & I haven't had one for ... gosh ... so long I have to think about it. At least 10-12 years, certainly. I'm totally fine now.
Best of luck! You're in my thoughts.
