so junior is gone

we gave away my newfie this morning. We didn't have the room to let him run and he wasn't happy cooped up in a house so we gave him to a friend who has kept him at his house while we were away.

He is happy. He has tons of room to run and cattle to herd.

It hurts but I know it is best for him.

Now I have the toy dogs to deal with...little buggers......they steal socks and demand attention.

It won't be the same without any big dogs but Charlie and company keeps me busy so it's cool.

DAMN I miss Buddy Guy

8. +1

I am sure he will accumulate more.

Look for a soon to be thread about him 'rescuing' another big dog.

9. Seriously. when I read the title, saw the author, I thought

Oh god, he shot *another* dog?

I'm glad that dog is in another household where it doesn't run the risk of being shot to death, or bred to death

10. except it now has "cattle to herd"

which, in my world, translates to unwanted urban dog chasing livestock and at a very HIGH risk of being shot.

11. more like 'cattle to trample it'

Since it's never been trained as a herding dog and hasn't been around large beasts that have tendencies to stampede. What could possibly go wrong

3. Sorry about your big dog.

We have a Beauceron who is about 15 years old. In her younger years she would have enjoyed a place like your friend's, but has had to settle for twice-daily walks. Now that she's old she isn't nearly as active.

I feel your pain about the little ones, too. Here is one of our sock-stealers, demanding attention:

4. I'm glad he found a good home.

From your title line, I expected the worst.
