I'm on University and cannot even hear them other than the very rare thunder in the distance.

That is to say, he had the opportunity to get in the jet as a passenger. I remember seeing a framed photo in his office of him in the backseat of the aircraft. That flight must have both scared the crap out of him and be a thrill of a lifetime. He says he did not get sick.

flew with them somewhere out west in the mountains. He said that they flew so close to the mountains that he was terrified. He said when he got down to earth he had to go home and change his pants and underwear.

That was not too long after my dad's experience. I think it is unlikely that local civilians are flying with the Blue Angels these days. My father was affiliated with the local radio station. I suppose reporters were allowed to fly so they could write a positive story about their experience. My father's flight was before my time, so all I have seen was the photograph. I wonder where that photo is now? If I can find it, I will make sure a grandchild saves, and treasures it.

from Dobbins Air Reserve Base, there would be an air show at least once a year. I was able to watch the Blue Angels from the parking lot. They put on a very spectacular show. People would park their cars all along the road to see them.

They flew at ultra slow speed between the office building I worked in and the bank building across the street. Eye level at roughly 100 feet away, and awesome.

During practice. Our office overlooked the bay and was very close to NAS Corpus Christi.

And used to be able to watch the Thunderbirds practice from my driveway.
I'm impressed by the speeds and close formations.
