(31,320 posts)when they ask her if she's coming!
No wonder she's confused!
Poor Bella.

(13,447 posts)They're saying "Bella, it's time to go" as opposed to "Come." They say "come over here" once early on, but that's it.

(11,065 posts)methinks the dog's name isn't really Bella, and that word was used as a "speak" command.
pipi_k
(21,020 posts)they probably trained Bella to do that.
I noticed that they used specific words that triggered certain behavior.
When they finally said "come", that's when she obeyed that command.

(14,554 posts)He will get in a kiddie pool or a lake and stand there, with his feet barely getting wet, but that's about it. Then again, I guess I have less "wet dog smell" days.

(11,065 posts)most disgustingly polluted creek imaginable. He'd walk a mile around any mud or slightly dampened dirt, too. Funny that my other two loved/love dirt, mud, puddles, wet grass, rain, any body of water, etc. but wouldn't touch the little plastic kiddie pool I got for doggie personal use. My second one always got upset when I tried to take a bath or shower by myself and always tried to climb in with me. The one I have now lets me take private baths or showers but he has to sit right by the tubby and "supervise", and sometimes when I take a shower he likes to sneak his head around the curtain and goose me and run away full of glee.
Dogs are so silly.

(39,961 posts)could confront the fiercest things alive, but he would get upset in the rain.
He was one of a kind. HUMONGOUS, sweet as pie, detested my brother-in-law, loved my elderly uncle.
Steel Blue. Took down the fence once because someone tried to jump it. 100lbs. of Doberman.
He LOVED water, but hated rain. Get that dude near a pool, and he would swim.
I'm pretty certain there is no dog on earth that was better than him.

(4,019 posts)She's cute but if they really wanted her to get out of the water and go, they could just say "Let's go!" and start walking away. At least, that's what works with my dogs.

(53,339 posts)A funny thing that happened with our first one, Sandy, was when she got out of the yard one day and we called her name and looked for her all over with no luck until we got a call from some friends on the next block a few hours later. They had the identical tract house, in the same position on the block as ours, and they told us that Sandy had been sitting patiently on their front porch waiting to be let in.
And Dad never heard the end of what happened on one car trip from L.A. to visit Grandma in Arizona. After a pit stop for gas and restrooms we all piled back in the car and were down the highway a few more miles before one of us kids in the back seat suddenly exclaimed, "Hey...where's Mom?"
Sandy had crawled up into Mom's place in the front passenger seat and was sitting there, enjoying the ride, without any of us noticing anything unusual. When we got back to the gas station to pick up Mom, she wasn't too happy. And like I said, Dad never heard the end of it.
