Tim Tebow Joins Good Morning America as Contributor
Former NFL quarterback was already in the Disney/ABC family, serving as an analyst on ESPN's SEC Network
We're about to find out if Tim Tebow can pass back to the studio.
The former NFL quarterback is joining Good Morning America as a contributor, ABC News announced Thursday.
Tebow's first day will be Monday, Sept. 15.
The first-ever college sophomore to win the Heisman Trophy will help launch GMA's Motivate Me Monday series, featuring individuals and their stories of triumph. Tebow will appear both in-studio and live on location in towns across America.
Look, putting the crazy religion stuff aside, I always thought Tim Tebow could have made it in the NFL if the guy had an open mind about the position where he played. Clearly he was not cut out to be an NFL Quarterback but this is not the first time a top rate Heisman Trophy winning QB has come to the NFL and not made it as a top rated QB. I know there were teams that wanted to consider him for the Tight End position where he might have been able to have a successful career. He might have also been able to work on his skills up in the Canadian Football League. Instead the guy stuck with his pride and felt he was to only play as an NFL QB and now only a few short years after graduating his career is done. He's not even getting calls as a backup QB and trust me in the NFL even a backup QB is a highly valuable thing, heck even the 3rd string QB is just as important.
What a waste of talent.

(66,317 posts)One thing I can't abide is religious grandstanding; not the least of which reasons is it's pretty much discouraged in the Gospel of Matthew.
These religious weirdos have conflated football with religion to such a degree that QB seems to have become the 'Jesus' field position.
I guess he's not "blessed" if he doesn't play field captain...

(95,337 posts)Never realized that Foles was also religious. But what I found interesting was that up until I read that article I never saw anything on the field that made me realize that Foles was that religious. From the article, which I believe was from Sports Illustrated, it seemed that to Foles faith was something personal. And for that I even had more respect for the player.
I never had a problem with anyone and their personal beliefs. But I had issues with the grandstanding. I always remember what Jesus said in the bible right before he taught his disciples the Lord's Prayer and that was how to actually pray. And basically Jesus said that prayer was something that should be kept quiet and to yourself because the Lord already knew what you were asking for - the loud showy stuff was just overkill.
5 And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

(4,851 posts)He had hands of stone. The Jets tried, but it was not going to happen. He was just not an NFL passer. For all those Heisman winners you mention that were able to adjust, there are more who never made it. There was a time when the best QB in NYC played guard for the Knicks. Charlie Ward knew enough to not even try to play in the NFL and he had a decent NBA career.

(4,851 posts)He is adjusting too, he is using his incredible personality and good looks to make it in broadcasting. I was just suggesting that no team actually wanted to consider him for the Tight End position because he could not block or catch. He could not have had a successful career as a TE or a FB in the NFL. It was not his pride, he was willing to do whatever the Jets wanted to do with him, but he simply did not have the ability to make it as anything but a scrambling QB with short pass ability. No one wanted that. I wish him well. I always liked him. But pride had nothing to do with his not makign it. The Jets tried him at TE and tried him at FB, he could not get off the practice field. Catching an running is not his thing, and his attempts to block blitzers on the punt team were so terrible that no team in teh NFL would want him as a TE or FB.

(36,294 posts)An example:
"Tim Tebow, after being cut by the New England Patriots last week, has refused to change positions after a NFL team expressed interest in him, SI's Peter King reported on NBC's 2013 NFL Kickoff show."

From everything I've read about him, he worked very hard and tried his best. A career in broadcasting is nothing to be ahsmed of and he may very well be quite successful doing that.

(36,294 posts)Graduated from Boise State University with a 50-3 record as QB. Considered too short and not having enough arm strength to be a pro QB, he went undrafted in the 2012 NFL draft but signed with Detroit as a UDFA. Despite the odds, he survived the cuts and made it to the regular season roster.
He's beginning his third season now as a Lion even though he has yet to be active for a single, regular season game. His on field awareness, football smarts and ability to manage an offense and avoid mistakes will probably give him a long career as a back up QB in the NFL.

(39,961 posts)other than Tim Tebow and his family are ratcheted up to zero.
He could have been a great tight end, but he's too arrogant for that.
Sad to see your career go, Timmy, but your ego overloaded your ability.
