(2,900 posts)when John did not want to come in and record she got him up, out and into the studio and stayed with him so he wouldn't leave.
I'm not a fan of her singing either. She's a good writer through.

(5,504 posts)That The Beatles had an agreement that wives/girlfriends would not be allowed in the actual recording sessions. John, knowing how the rest felt about Yoko (especially Paul), would insist on Yoko being in the studio and even offering her unsolicited opinions on the music. Now, if this is true, wouldn't it be just like John do this on purpose, just to alienate Paul? No hate mails please.

(36,827 posts)If not Yoko Ono it would have been something else. John was not in a very good state of mind at the time. He was addicted to drugs and often couldn't even make it out of bed. Yoko is just a convenient scapegoat really. The title is really just tongue in cheek, even though I've heard better dial up modems.

I do agree, she is a convenient scapegoat.

(18,497 posts)To me it is flat out obvious that those two people were deeply in love and in awe of each other.
And I have more respect for John Lennon that he wasn't a shallow ass punk.
Yeah. He was cute enough. I was just snarking a bit.

See her Wikipedia page for a not particularly effusive summary: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoko_Ono .
To my mind, it's to Lennon's credit that he was smart enough to marry someone who could be a strong collaborator on artistic and activist projects that went beyond what he could have done had he continued to work solely with the Beatles.

(18,497 posts)Anyone that doesn't believe that John Lennon and Yoko Ono loved each other in every physical, emotional, artistic and spiritual sense of the word?
Fuck you.
The Beatles broke up because Paul and John were both fucking musical geniuses.
Two musical geniuses in the same room doesn't generally work for long.
Hell, George Harrison was a good writer too. John and Paul ... that's a lot of talent to cram into a 10-song album. They DID need to go their separate ways, but damn it would have been cool to see some reunion shows had that dickwad not killed John. I do think they would have played again, may have been for cash, but they would have played again.
Wife hates the Beatles, but thanks in large part to them rock n roll was saved from the teen idol shit it was becoming and the next thing you know British invasion and then American acts stepping up their game...all thanks to the Fab 4. May their accomplishments be revered forever.
