Its b-a-a-a-ck......

Got up this morning and was surprised to hear a conversation taking place in the living room. Thing is, there wasn't supposed to be anyone in there. But, since it sounded just chatty and not angry, I put on my robe and ventured in to find out what was going on. To my great relief, no one was there. But, the conversation continued, talking about different styles of furniture. What the heck?!

Wasn't the radio. I live in what's called the garden level ( aka basement) and the radio reception is lousy to non-existent. So, I kept listening and followed the sound. It was coming from the television. According to the box that comes with the cable service, it was off. I picked up the remote and clicked "on", and the voices stopped mid-word; but the thing still wasn't on. I clicked again and it came on, showing an H&G show where they were, in fact, discussing furniture.

Yeah, I know, probably just some weird wiring thing. But it was just a couple years back when I came home one night to find a photo displayed on the television screen, a still shot of two kids on a playground, took up the whole screen. Again, the box said it was off. Clicking the remote a couple of times cleared the picture and it hasn't come back. So now the teevee is talking to me when no one's looking.

Yeesh.

...I always wanted to say that.

One time, my toaster oven turned itself on, in the "bake" mode, at 400 degrees.

All by itself.

I'm not kidding.

Will turn my CD player on. None of the other components come on, just the CDs player. Everything is on a surge protector, too.

... that your TV is trying to get you to redecorate? Everyone's a critic now. Used to be appliances just accepted things the way they were.

Don't give in to it. If you do, pretty soon the refrigerator will be mocking the counter tops - trying to get you to install granite.
