Rush album is now a steampunk novel

"An upcoming Rush album dubbed 'Clockwork Angels' is being transformed into a sci-fi/steampunk novel by none other than Kevin J. Anderson.

'I'm writing the novelization of Rush's forthcoming album Clockwork Angels, their first new CD in five years. Imagine if someone had written the novel of The Wall, Tommy, or Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band when those classic albums were released. For Rush fans, Clockwork Angels is that project,' Anderson explained in an official Facebook post."

I don't even know what to post here. I like the Rush. But I'm not a big fan of Anderson. Or steampunk.

I love Rush but I wasn't familiar with KJA so I wiki'd him and saw a lot of stuff I recognized but the only thing on the list I have actually read was Dean Koontz' Frankenstein. Which I see had KJA's name removed from later pressings. I loved that series though.

I also loved all of the original Frank Herbert Dune novels - read them all. But I tried to read a Brian Herbert novel and never got past a couple chapters so I probably just completely looked right over any of those prequel Dune books when I saw them on the shelves.

I have seen some steampunk art I liked but I don't know that I've read any steampunk books unless you count William Gibson's The Difference Engine which I read a long time ago and loved. But I probably loved it because it was William Gibson - I doubt I even knew the term "steampunk" so I wouldn't have been into it for the genre.

So all that to say "hmmmm..." It sounds interesting and there is enough there for me to probably take a look at it when it comes out.

And I find steampunk pretty interesting. So I will no doubt be reading this novel. I think its cool anyway.

in bookstores but never bought/read one.

I pretty much read everything Frank wrote (missing only some short stories) but just couldn't bring myself to read the spin off stuff.

Maybe next time I see one I will grab it.

Hmm.... Just did a search for Brian Herbert and it looks like he has 13 Dune books (plus short stories). His father only wrote 7 (plus short stories).

Kinda like Jules Verne's vision of the future from 20,000 leagues under the sea.
