I have the bad habit of starting to watch some movies, to only finish them years later.
Iron Man, Taking Woodstock, Mutiny on the Bounty (1962) are movies for example I started and never finished. Casablanca is still sealed.

(54,256 posts)Over the years I've gotten used to falling asleep to TV.
I CAN fall asleep without it, but it just seems to make the transition from awake to asleep easier.
Especially something that's more dialogue than action.
You can close your eyes and keep up with the story without having to see it while you drift off.
Law and Order, in all its incarnations, is good.
LOTS of dialogue which carries the plot.
Eventually I'll watch the DVD to the end during the day.

(17,086 posts)I've had Basic to Advanced Winching Recovery Clinic sitting on top of my dvd player for about a year now without watching it.
I'm afraid once I start it that I'll just get pulled in...

(10,575 posts)The last guys I pulled out were a couple of meth heads in the mountains of West Virginia that got their 94 Olds stuck while out looking for stuff to steal.
When Blockbuster was going-out-of-business, on the last day when everything was 80% off, I cleaned out the store and bought close to 100 DVDs, many of which I now realize I have no intention of watching.
