Pardon me while I gloat...

I just got word that I will be spending New Years Eve on a cruise ship in the Western Caribbean. I just looked at the itinerary and I'll be going to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and Haiti. All for the low, low ,low, low price of
$317.90. That's not a typo. It's nice having a BIL who handles High Rollers (gamblers) for Casinos all over the world. He had a cancellation and I get the $1400.00 per person stateroom for only the tax fee.
The last time I took a cruise was 2007 and it was the best vacation I ever had. I am soo looking forward to this trip.

1. Good for you!

What a great way to ring in the New Year.
Let me know if he could swing the deal for someone else (moi!).

3. Heh heh...

Told my girl about the trip and she said she couldn't possibly get the time off. I'm very disappointed.
But I'm still taking the damn cruise.
We may not even be dating in December so I'll be damned if I'm gonna pass up this trip. Sounds terrible of me doesn't it?
I can be such a turd. Such is the mentality of a never married 47 year old man.

2. There is a wonderful bar on the far side of Cozumel that you have to visit.

I think it's called Coconuts. The best Margaritas and ceviche. Rent a jeep with a good tarp.

4. In Cozumel you might want to consider swimming with

the manatees at Chananaab Park. This is something you can book on your own ahead of time. I did it the last time I went to Cozumel and loved it. The price wasn't really that bad either. Jamaica has a great zip line tour that you might be able to book through the ship. If you have never had a chance to swim with the stingrays the that can be fun and the water was totally gorgeous.

6. I live in South Florida

I swim with stingrays and manatees often. But the zip line tour sounds like a good time. Thanks avebury

8. You will love the zipline tour if you decide to try it.

I would definitely book it through the ship because Jamaica is definitely someplace that you don't want to risk missing the ship.

7. Gloat on, CMC!

That's wonderful, gloatable news.

MY brother in law sells office supplies. But hey, this ream of copy paper is almost as good as a cruise.

10. nice way to bring in the new year

My wife and I just went on our first cruise 2 weeks ago. We went to Port Canaveral, Great Stirrup Cay and Nassau. We had a great time and can't wait for our next one in March. This time we're going to San Juan Puerto Rico, St. Thomas US Virgin Islands, Philipsburg St. Maarten and Tortola British Virgin Islands. Have a great time.

12. I've been to Tortola.

Beautiful place. They don't allow smoking outdoors in public areas. I was sitting outside in a courtyard and got chastised by the local gentry. I saw the no smoking signs everywhere but they didn't say you couldn't smoke outdoors.

13. Skip Cozumel and take a mainland excursion.

January weather is awful in Cozumel. you will likely not get in the water anywhere, unless getting smashed upon the breakwater is exciting. Take the ferry to Playa del Carmen and go to Coba.

Have fun! I'm jealous, it'll be freezing where I am in January.
