Male, neutered, sweet kitty, His name is Henry. I have no pics at the moment but I will post one as soon as I can. My Mother is dying, it's been a hard three months, and this is one of her cats. He's an indoor baby. I have two other cats that need homes right now as well. One female Maine Coon, who is Henry's sister. Another long hair, but she's 16 with a history of respiratory problems. The shelter is no help at the moment as they're dealing with a rash of respiratory infections in their cats. They are a no kill shelter.
Quite possibly have a home! A friend of mine has a farm in New York, and wants them

(9,992 posts)There is a Maine Coon rescue group that mght be able to place them: http://www.mainecoonrescue.net/index.html
You can also place a free ad on Petfinder: http://www.petfinder.com/classifieds/classifieds.html (they do require that you charge an adoption fee to discourage hoarders and other undesirables)
So sorry about your mom. Glad you have some feline comfort of your own at home.

(12,496 posts)I seem to have developed a penchant for rescuing cats from people who have died, as I got onr from my best friend who passed away, and one from a friend's mother who also died.
Right now I have two cats--one, a nearly 17 year old and Oliver, who is a red tabby and still going strong at over 8. I think I could be ready to add to the brood now.
Are you currently IN Maine? If so, perhaps we could meet someplace in the middle, as I'm in Worcester, MA.
And I would hate to break up the team of Henry and his sister--they will need each other when the separation happens, because I've seen it happen.
If they get along fine with other animals, I can lend a hand if needed.
My buddie, Garabaldi, was a Maine Coon lookalike.
I lost him in 2007, complications of diabetes.
I am committed to keeping my furkids for their lifetime. 15 seems to be youngest they have passed away at.

(9,902 posts)I'm keeping one male coon, and there is one more left. A female, small, gray. Part coon. She's 16 years old, and headed to the vet on weds for a good shave...she's rather matted. I'm back and forth right now between Maine and Boston, almost every weekend. I take the train in. If you think you may want an older gray coon, let me know. I'm about halfway up the coast, an hour and a half past Portland.

(12,496 posts)My main problem with such an older animal is getting too attached!
Delenn is 16 now, so it would be a great friend to her, but I'm not sure Oliver would appreciate another old "biddy" bossing him around!
Let me know if someone comes forward as well. I'd love to make sure she got an excellent family after the ordeal she's been going through, losing her mama--cats are so empathetic, though no one who dislikes cats can understand. When my [late] Jessica was still young, I had to let my oldest, Sandi, go from kidney disease. She was devastated, and had to be put on valium for awhile because she wasn't eating and losing weight. She eventually rallied, but it's hard on all animals when someone they love passes away.

(3,044 posts)She was found by the side of the road in a snow drift. I have 4 cats now and can not afford another. But if I could I would have 10 more just like her. I love her so much!

(9,902 posts)except she is all gray, and 16 years old...but kitten sized she so tiny. All fluff.

(4,475 posts)The loves of my life, those boys are. So sweet, loving, gentle, and HUGE paws! They have their winter coats on now and you have never seen such fluffy tummies.

(182,632 posts)Pepper is my girl and she is fantastic. Fat as a hog but I am sure she would still be a champion mouser (7 kills in 2004 - our old apartment - the mice went away)

(59,440 posts)I'd give anything to take a cat. Mine is part Maine Coon. Mr. Gray would rip my lungs out if I took another kitty. I know a No Kill shelter in Salisbury who might take a cat. They have a beautiful house that only cats live in.
